A little history of Edward Russell Johnston: I relocated to Citrus County in 1976 after spending several years working with a multi-national construction company entirely on large scale projects. I started a new construction business in Citrus and the surrounding Counties. The population and infrastructure were quite different in those days. In the past 40 years a lot of changes have occurred; however our quality of life in this part of Florida has remained outstanding.
By 1977 I earned my Real Estate license and joined Jack Varnadoe’s Real Estate firm in Crystal River. In those days the Realtors Association covered several counties and the Multiple Listing report was sent out monthly in a thick book.
By 1981 I had earned my Real Estate Broker’s license and started Edward Russell Johnston Realty, Inc. In 1985, with Sam Tamposi and Stan Olsen we formed a new Real Estate company which we called Gulf to Lakes Realty, Inc. At the time I was involved in several substantial building projects with Sam and Stan. Eventually, Sam Tamposi and Stan Olsen gave their company shares to Sam’s son Nicholas and Stan’s daughter Beth. I continued forward as Edward Russell Johnston Realty, Inc. To this day I consider both families my friends.
In 2017 I purchased Coldwell Banker Next Generation Realty of Citrus LLC. As of this writing we have seventeen sales agents, a sales manager, two full time property managers, three secretaries and a general manager.
2017 celebrates forty years in the construction business and 39 years in the real estate business. That is a significant amount of time and as a result a considerable amount of experience. Although times have changed with the advent of computers, the internet and social media, one thing that hasn’t changed is the way we do business on a personal level.
